I’m feeling pretty excited because the house we are building is really coming along now and amongst gathering all the baby items for when our second bub arrives, I’m also starting to think a lot more about planning the decor for the new house.
Obviously, I’m going to wait until we’re in before I can get a true sense of space in the rooms before I decide on what things I want where, but I’m certainly clear on the style direction: Minimal, clean with a boho luxe vibe.
We already chose the palette for the house (obviously, as it’s halfway through being built) – whites and greys. I plan on warming up this minimal palette with touches of natural wood furniture, lots of fresh green foliage in natural baskets and cozy throws. Most importantly, some feature pieces in each room with character: think tribal furnishings, moroccan patterns and mixed metals.
Ideally, I’d love to curate these pieces from my exotic travels from places near and far, but because those experiences don’t actually exist, I will have to imagine where I’ve been and save myself the jet-lag and funds – hehe.
I’ve got a few pieces from when I visited Jordan and Israel five years ago, but I didn’t bring too much back then and I’ve never been to places like Europe or Africa – in particular one day I would love to visit Africa. In the meantime, I will content myself with fascinating documentaries and Pinterest boards entitled ‘Wanderlust’ ;)
Where’s somewhere you’re dying to visit one day? Are you one of the lucky ones who already has solid plans to travel abroad this year?
